Company History [Back to About Us]
See what one person with an idea can do. . .

John Nerad was an entrepreneur in the truest sense of the word.
He was an astute businessman and definitely an individual to be remembered. As a pharmaceutical salesman in the early 1950’s, he saw the need for a method of labeling in hospitals that eliminated contamination. He had an idea, and today we see what one person with an idea can do. . .
His idea was to provide self-adhesive tape products and pressure sensitive labeling products to control, and help prevent, the spread of contamination. And so he began, in his home with the help of his wife, developing products that would become an essential component of a healthcare provider's daily routine. Products which focused on patients, materials, and management processes.
Through his vision and responsiveness to hospital and laboratory needs, the company, now celebrating its 50th year, has evolved into the leading label provider for efficient and error free healthcare environments. Mr. Nerad’s idea has been the architect that designed and defined hospital labeling for the past 50 years. Originating with Time® Tape, expanding to include a variety of label products in the 60’s, pioneering EDP labeling in the 70’s and 80’s, adding a full line of thermal labeling systems in the 90’s and introducing twin web laser products and wristbands for the millennium.
Mr. Nerad was also recognized on multiple occasions by the YMCA for his continuous generosity. As he realized success in business, he became a strong supporter of the YMCA because of the impact it had on his life from the time he was a young boy. He also provided the funds to build and endow a Child Development Center. His legacy lives on in the business he created and the thousands of lives he touched through his philanthropy. His son, Jerry Nerad - President, promises to provide the best labeling products and services without compromising our integrity or passion for success.
At TimeMed we salute John Nerad and look forward to the next 50 years!
